It was 2006 and Eugenie and her partner Richard O’Neill were house hunting. “It can be developed in the Arts and Crafts design and has a beautiful rambling truly feel, which provides to its character,” claims Eugenie. “I grew up in an aged Federation house so I’ve often experienced a matter for fireplaces, substantial ceilings and ornate leadlight windows.” They purchased it, and moved in with their young daughters Charlotte, now 16, and Daisy, 14. “The 1st detail we did was paint it all white,” says Eugenie, who is a perfectly-regarded facial area in the fashion and attractiveness industries right after a very long vocation in publishing, most notably as editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar magazine.

5 years ago, the couple were being ready to revamp the kitchen, which is situated at the rear of the ground floor. The formal residing and diningrooms are also on this level, at the entrance of the residence. “The natural beauty of the first architecture is found in all those two rooms, so maintaining them as individual formal spaces was crucial to us,” claims Eugenie.

To offset the formality, they wished to develop a much more peaceful, open-approach household spot at the rear. Downstairs, an oversize laundry was refurbished and outfitted as a 3rd toilet, though a fourth residing place – when Charlotte and Daisy’s playroom – has been painted and carpeted, turning it into an amusement zone which is excellent for young adults.

During the serial renovations, Eugenie’s focus has been on maintaining a fashion which is traditional and relaxed. She enjoys the home’s tranquil, calming energy. “Anytime I acquire pieces for the home I seem for points that are polished and tasteful, but not extremely official,” she suggests. “I have to be aware that it can be a house that sees a ton of action, with two rowdy youngsters, a puppy and generally occupied lives.”
