OCEAN TOWNSHIP – At Home, the home decor retailer, will open its second store in Monmouth and Ocean counties next week.

The store opens on Feb. 3 at 9 a.m. at Seaview Square shopping center. It’s located in the lower level of the former Sears building.

“We are glad to see that building … finally taken over,” Ocean Township Mayor Chris Siciliano said. The store “will help serve the needs of the population in Ocean Township” and the surrounding communities.

At Home has four other stores in New Jersey, including one that opened in 2018 at Laurel Square shopping center in Brick. Headquartered in Plano, Texas, the company operates more than 219 stores in 40 states. See a photo gallery of the Brick store at the top of this story.

At Home locations are typically big stores. The new one at Seaview Square is 94,000 square feet, the company said, adding it will stock more than 50,000 home décor items for every room and every budget. It includes furniture, rugs, wall art and housewares to tabletop, patio and holiday décor.

Sears closed its store at the shopping center in 2018. It’s “very fortunate” when a shopping center is able to lease a store that size of a former Sears, Siciliano said. The building’s upper level, which is 93,000 square feet, is also available for lease, according to marketing materials on the web.

At 775,000 square feet and at the intersection of Routes 35 and 66, Seaview Square is one of the largest shopping centers in Monmouth and Ocean counties. It has some big tenants, including Target and Costco Warehouse. Other tenants include Burlington, Pet Smart, Big Lots and Sky Zone.

Now with At Home, it’s a home décor shopping destination. Last fall, Home Goods and Marshalls moved into new stores, joining Homesense and Sierra Trading Post, which are all owned by TJX Cos.
