Councilwoman teams up with volunteers to clean up a neighborhood

SAN ANTONIO – Cleaning up a neighborhood to clean out crime.

That’s the goal of a new initiative on the city’s East side.

City staff teamed up with volunteers to pick up trash in four different spots Saturday.

Councilwoman Jada-Andrews Sullivan hopes to make this a regular event.

Her goal is to show the impact just cleaning up your neighborhood can have on reducing crime.

“We wanted to truly put what we are saying into motion so today we are out here, we’re cleaning up, we’re living up to what we said we wanted to do and we’re wanting to be the change that we want to see to bring crime down in our district,” said Jada Andrews-Sullivan, District 2.

The councilwoman says San Antonio’s police chief also came out this morning to meet with neighbors.
