Ozzy Osbourne has thanked fans and said he is “definitely feeling the love” after being discharged from hospital following life-changing spine surgery.

The Black Sabbath frontman, 73, had an operation on his neck and back to alter damage to his body following a serious fall at home three years ago, which left the rocker unable to stand or walk for long periods.

He had the surgery on Monday and was discharged from hospital and sent home on Wednesday evening, according to posts on his social media account.

Ozzy wrote: “I am now home from the hospital recuperating comfortably.

“I am definitely feeling the love and support from all my fans and send everyone a big thank you for their thoughts, prayers and well wishes during my recovery.”

He says he still has issues with his balance, which may impact his ability to finish his world tour.

His recovery is proving tougher than expected and he is hoping the new surgery will fix things.

Ozzy has struggled with his health in the past two years following a fall at his home, requiring several neck and back surgeries, and a Parkinson’s diagnosis. Before that he damaged his neck in a quad bike accident in 2003.

Last month, he stepped out alongside wife Sharon in Los Angeles looking frail and needing a walking stick as he left a recording studio. The heavy metal star also needed the help of an aid to get into a car.

But he still looked the part as he wore all black, with painted black pointed nails and his signature long hair.

Sharon took to social media to “express so much gratitude” from followers to her husband.

The 69-year-old wrote: “Our family would like to express so much gratitude for the overwhelming amount of love and support leading up to Ozzy’s surgery!

“Ozzy is doing well and on the road to recovery! Your love means the world to him.”

The former X Factor judge has taken time off for her new TV show The Talk to be by his side and admits she doesn’t know if he will be well enough to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary in July.

She confirmed the news of his surgery while live on air during an episode last week, declaring that the operation will “really determine the rest of his life”.
