Shoppers have voted for their favourite cleaning products of the year, ranging from dishwasher detergents and floor cleaners to vacuums and air purifiers.
The 2020/2021 Finder Retail Awards highlighted Australia’s top-rated brands across 16 categories, with Aldi, Dyson and Woolworths taking out the top spots after more than 3,000 consumers were surveyed.
Affordable supermarket names were among the winners, with a staggering 98 per cent of shoppers highly recommending Aldi for fabric softeners and 94 per cent endorsing Woolworths Essentials for the toilet cleaners category.

Kate Browne, retail expert at Finder, said the company’s Retail awards help consumers pinpoint the best products in the market, saving them time and money.
‘With Aussies spending more time at home, and making more of a mess while we’re there, the good news is you needn’t clock up more hours cleaning,’ she said.
‘If you have the right products and know the best cleaning hacks, you can clean efficiently which means more time for the things you love.’
Voted the most effective all purpose spray, Ajax has been recommended by 94 per cent of consumers and it’s said to be the easiest to use.
Dyson’s barrel-style vacuum cleaner was given the top score by shoppers for cleaning performance and storage.
‘Put a small scoop of cinnamon into your machine to emit any bad odours while you vacuum,’ Ms Browne suggested.
While Woolworths Essentials took out the top spot in the toilet cleaner category after scoring the highest points for every metric.
Recommended by 97 per cent of customers, LG took out the best stick vacuum category for value for money, battery life and cleaning performance.

When it comes to bleach and disinfectant, Sard was the best rated for being the ‘easiest’ product of the bunch to use.
‘Have white dishes that are looking worse for wear? Whiten them with bleach – just add a small amount of bleach to your dishwasher and voila,’ Ms Browne said.
If you’re looking for a carpet or floor cleaner, look no further than Pine O Cleen after 94 per cent of customers revealed it was their go-to brand.
‘Before you dip your mop into a bucket, use the cleaning solution to also wipe down surfaces like window sills or counters – multitasking works wonders,’ she said.
Australians recommended Scotch-Brite’s range of clothes, scourers and sponges because they’re easy to use, durable and high performing products.
Shine’s dishwasher detergents and tablets were rated best for odour, scent and effectiveness.
‘Try cleaning your oven door with dishwashing tablets. Dip a tablet in warm water, scrub your oven door and watch the grease dissolve,’ Ms Browne said.
Best rated for softness of clothes and value-for-money, Aldi’s fabric softeners were the clear winners in the fabric softener category after 98 per cent of shoppers recommended the supermarket label.
Cold Power had the highest rating for cleaning performance when it comes to laundry detergent for both liquid and tablet.
‘If you’re using a tablet, consider breaking it in half for smaller loads,’ she said.
Windex took out the glass cleaner category as the best overall rated brand.
‘Want a shower screen with no watermarks? Spray glass or window cleaner on your shower screen while it’s still wet,’ Ms Browne suggested.
Up to 96 per cent of shoppers voted for oven and cooktop cleaner brand Hillmark for being the most effective and easiest to use as well as having the best smell.
Recommended by 90 per cent of consumers, Dyson air purifiers topped the list for quietness, design and value for money.
